"Blues by the River" Festival Returns

Get ready to tap your feet and sway to the rhythm because the blues are making a triumphant return to Riverhead. An exciting outdoor blues festival dubbed "Blues by the River" is all set to take over the new town square on Saturday, September 9th, from noon to 6 pm, promising a day of soulful tunes, good company, and vibrant energy.

The gates will swing open at 10:30 a.m., inviting enthusiasts to immerse themselves in a day of musical bliss. The festival website reveals that general admission tickets are priced at $35, ensuring an affordable yet unforgettable experience. For fans aged 12 and older, tickets are a must, but the event extends a warm welcome to kids aged 11 or younger by granting them free access.

Stealing the spotlight in this sonic extravaganza will be none other than Kerry Kearney and the Kings of Psychedelia, featuring the talented Michael Falzarano. These seasoned performers are poised to captivate the audience with their soul-stirring melodies and powerful performances. Adding to the allure of the event, the lineup also boasts the electrifying presence of artists like Lex Grey and the Urban Pioneers, Gene Casey and the Lone Sharks, Jack Licitra and the South Bay Soul, and Kane Daily and the Roadhouse Dawgs.

The "Blues by the River" festival carries a significant legacy, with roots tracing back to the Riverhead Blues & Music Festival that attracted massive crowds downtown since 1998.

For all the attendees, it's essential to note that pets, backpacks, large bags, external food and drinks, and coolers will not be permitted on-site. The festival website underscores the importance of adhering to these guidelines and adds that the event maintains a strict stance against drugs, including marijuana. However, ADA registered service animals will find a warm welcome at the event.

In the spirit of preparedness, it's worth mentioning that a rain date has been set for Sunday, September 10, just in case Mother Nature has her own plans.

So, mark your calendars, secure your tickets, and prepare to immerse yourself in a day of harmonious melodies and a shared love for the blues. "Blues by the River" promises to be a celebration of music, community, and the enduring magic of the blues.
