“NEWSIES A MUSICAL TRIUMPH!”
Longwood High School delivered its rendition of Disney’s NEWSIES with three performances the weekend of February 11th. Though I no longer have kids who attend LHS, I had heard about the event through MICA and thought, “Let’s make a night of it on the town.”.So, after a delicious meal at Lombardi’s of Middle Island Diane and I took in the show. We were not disappointed!
Orchestra Director, Adam Wilbur and his student musicians delivered wonderful musical performance. With their accompaniment, cast leads: Michael Gallagher (Jack), Isabella Cannone (Katherine), Jacquelyn Conlon (Medda), David Adejare (Davey), David Lafler (Crutchie) and Royce Conlon (Joseph Pulitzer) and the entire cast delivered a solid vocal and dance performance.
The most exciting performance of the evening, the one that really wowed the crowd was the 2nd act opening scene, Jacobi’s Deli, Next Morning “King of New York”. The scene at Jacobi's Deli is a moment of celebration and reflection for the Newsies, as they bask in the glory of their success and celebrate the bond that they have formed as a group. The opening dance, choreographed and lead by student Isabella Cannone (Katherine) was the highlight of the evening. Visit the newsletter’s website to watch the performance.
