Reflecting on a Year of Unity and Connection

Middle Island and the Longwood community have always been rich in history and culture. For the past year, Our Community Newsletter has been bringing that heritage to life. As we commemorate the one year anniversary issue of our newsletter, it is a time to reflect on the milestones we've achieved, the bonds we've forged, and the community we are building together.

From the very beginning, our goal was clear: to create a platform that celebrates Artist Lake—Fairview Condominiums, while fostering unity and camaraderie among its residents. Over the course of the year, we have strived to fulfill that vision by showcasing the remarkable stories that make our community unique and highlighting the events that have brought us closer together.

As we move forward into our second year our vision is to expand the newsletter beyond Artist Lake - Fairview and into the greater Longwood community. Through our partnerships with the Longwood Chamber of Commerce, Middle Island Civic Association and the Suffolk County Police Department 7th and 6th precinct we are well on our way to realizing this vision.

One of the cornerstones of Our Community Newsletter has been the exploration of local history. We've delved deep into the roots of Middle Island, unearthing captivating tales of the past and ensuring that our community's heritage remains alive and cherished.  The Island Squire,  Fairytown USA, and Alonzo Chappel are a few.

But our newsletter goes beyond just nostalgia; it is a dynamic force that actively engages the local community. We have been committed to promoting and supporting local events that bring people together. Whether it was the thrilling Bowling Night that brought out the competitive spirit in all of us, the soulful live music performances at our beloved beach clubs, Kathy Mabli’s paint parties, dinner nights at Taino’s, Villa Lombardi’s and Lucia’s, or the invigorating hikes in our scenic local parks, we have embraced opportunities to foster connections and create lasting friendships and memories.

One of the proudest moments for our newsletter was the revival of a long-lost tradition in Artist Lake –Fairview Condominiums—a community holiday celebration. After years without a dedicated residents event, we organized a memorable community Christmas party at the Artist Lake - Fairview Clubhouse for adults and kids alike. The joy and laughter that filled the room that evening were a testament to the power of community spirit. It reminded us all of the importance of coming together, especially during the holiday season, to strengthen the bonds that tie us as neighbors and friends.

As our newsletter grew in prominence, we expanded our reach beyond Artist Lake—Fairview Condominiums into greater Middle Island and forged meaningful relationships with the surrounding communities. Collaborating with Lake Pointe, Picasso Way, The Shores, and Hidden Meadows has allowed us to connect with even more neighbors and share in their unique stories. By bridging gaps and building bridges, we have nurtured a sense of unity that extends beyond our immediate boundaries, creating a vibrant network of support and camaraderie.

Additionally, our involvement in various community organizations has further solidified our commitment to serving the Middle Island and Longwood community. The Middle Island Civic Association, Community Associations Institute, SCPD Commissioner Community Ambassador program, and the Longwood Chamber of Commerce have all welcomed our newsletter as an active member, recognizing the value we bring to the community through our shared mission of fostering connection, promoting local businesses, and supporting neighborhood initiatives.

As we celebrate the one year anniversary issue of Our Community Newsletter, we extend our heartfelt

gratitude to every reader, contributor, and supporter who has made this journey possible. Your unwavering enthusiasm and passion for our community have been the driving force behind our success. Together, we have created a platform that not only chronicles the past but also shapes the future, fostering a sense of belonging, pride, and togetherness.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue our mission of celebrating the local history, promoting community events, and connecting residents in meaningful ways. Our Community Newsletter will remain a steadfast advocate for Middle Island and the Longwood community, striving to uplift, empower, and unite us all.

Here's to a year of shared stories, cherished memories, and an even brighter future for our beloved  Artist Lake, Middle Island and the Longwood community. Happy anniversary, Our Community Newsletter!
